Mobilizer Mobilizer
A mobilizer is a server that converts a web site into a format suitable for viewing/reading on mobile devices. The getting-mobile mobilizer has been created in the context of my news reader app GoodNews. This mobilizer’s goal is “readability”. This means stripping out all navigation bars and anything else annoying when only interested in the content. As this optimization is done on the getting-mobile server the result is also, that the page loads much quicker on the mobile device as there is less data to be transferred over the air.
At the moment the content recognition strategy works great for about 90% of the web sites. In the near future there will be the option to report web sites not giving the expected results to increase the mobilizer’s output quality from day to day.
The following images are giving an impression of the results: On the left the original CNN page and on the right the same page optimized by the getting-mobile mobilizer:

For Users
For users of GoodNews the mobilizer is provided for free (at the moment). Users of other apps will have to pay a minimal fee — details will follow soon.
For Developers
If you are a developer, either for mobile apps, for web apps or anything else where you would like to provide your users a better reading experience, then I have good news for you: You can integrate the getting-mobile mobilizer for free. In the future I will provide more information here and automatic registration forms, but at the moment you can simply contact me if you are interested.
